“Moment 4 Life”
As she sings the hook, “I wish that I could have this moment for life…….cause in this moment I just feel so alive…….,” Nikki Manaj.
I wonder if that’s the high you feel after making millions and your fan base adores you. So much so that they want to act like, talk like, even think like you, dress like you, and be like you…..
As I hear the words travel toward my eardrum, I feel a bit uneasy and then I can’t escape the idea of Jesus being in the wilderness after fasting 40 days and 40 nights followed by being tempted by the devil. I, in no way shape or form compare Nikki Manaj to my Lord and Savior for they have nothing in common other than the fact that she was born as all men and women were born of a woman and in sin and He has been given the authority to forgive us of our sins. (Luke 5:24)
See the message of her song only stresses “the moment” but forgiveness of sins have eternal effects! We are no different when we think only in terms of the moment, the right here and the right now, but I read in the Bible that “heaven and earth would one day pass away, but the Word of God shall not, Jesus said.” (Matthew 24:35) As the songwriter wrote, “you better build your hopes on things eternal.”
In fact, it is her “lack-of ”or our lack thereof where Jesus the Christ can only supply and it is in that one moment of her life she can be forever changed from death to life and life to life eternal.
In that one encounter, that one moment with Jesus the Christ will she ever see herself for who she really is—lost yet to be found. Sinful yes, she too is in need of salvation. In that one moment of her life, her life……..She has yet to know what it means when she says, “in this moment I just feel so alive, alive.” In order to be alive one must first be “made alive” from being dead in both trespasses and sins.
Yet she defines her life in the moment of superstardom, status, fame, money, jewels, cars, and clothes. An image, a dream, a brand that she knows majority of her fans cannot afford. She sells you the idea that “Hollywood couldn’t change her and paints ghetto life as if it’s glamorous but her address ain’t no where near the ghetto!
Young women look up to her, idolize and imitate her but the Bible says, “thou shall not have no other God before me,” and “we ought to be imitators of Christ!” See if the devil can convince you to think that you are the “star” then who needs God? What do you think got him kicked out of heaven?
This leads me right into the next point. Jesus is the mirror we all can look into that will never lie. A mirror that shows the reflection of the heart of every human being—depraved, sin-sick and destined for hell if he or she rejects the only way men and women can be saved!
As she’s singing, “I wish that I could have this moment for life, but at what price? What are you willing to give up for “this moment?” She goes on and says, “cause in this moment I just feel so alive……” My question to you is after you have gained everything in this world i.e. money, cars, jewels, status, etc. the position where you stand as if you are on top of the highest mountain looking out unto to the world, did you know that everyone has a day of judgment?
We need to get our heads out of the clouds.
The devil is offering so many “the world” in the form of:
a. The lust of the flesh
b. The lust of the eyes
c. The pride of life
The scripture continues in 1 John 2:17, “And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”
What I find is that Jesus’ response to the devil after he tries to offer Him all the kingdoms of the world and in doing so the devil says he will offer “the One by whom all things are made and without Him nothing was made,” the devil offers, no he said he would give Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of the Father “all authority and their glory for this has been delivered to him and he will give it to whomever he wish.” All of this comes out of Luke 4:5-8.
When has the devil ever been so unselfish? He is a liar and he always has plans that lead to killing, stealing, and destroying—you.
You wish that you could have this moment for life? Well how much is your life worth? How much would you give in exchange for your life or your soul because while you are impressed with the glitter and the gold it is then your soul he is after?
The devil lives for authority and glory but they both alone belong to God the Father. Heaven is his throne and the earth is His footstool. And what I find laughable is that the devil doesn’t offer us anything other than what feeds our flesh, our eyes and our pride but we can no longer fall for it!
Look at how Jesus replies, “Get behind Me Satan!” I believe that was figurative for you are a liar and a defeated foe. He continues with the dribble and dunks, “You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve,” swishhhhh!
First of all, it’s never about you having a moment in life that outshines having a relationship with the Father through Christ. If you are not in fellowship with the Father, then you are missing out on the best moment of your life—today, tomorrow and forever.
To experience life, you must first be exposed to the one way to truth through Jesus Christ! (John 14:6) You will continue to forfeit your soul for some chump change while spending eternity in hell.
See it’s like God extending an invitation to you but you refuse it or reject it because your eyes are fixed on “worldly things.” You feel like you have been deprived, and now that you have “made it” you are the star of the show. Nikki says that she will retire with the ring and she will retire with the crown. Those that will receive their crown are them that “endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him,” James 1:12.
God the Father, unlike the devil offers us Himself. He not only offered Himself but He offered us His best gift, the life of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
I have never felt so alive since I accepted Jesus Christ into my life. And in knowing Him, the experience grows sweeter every day. Yes, the fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you, a sinner like me is truly a moment that carries over to a lifetime into eternity.
Seek not a kingdom, a dynasty etc. for yourself……..But rather, “Seek ye the kingdom of God first and His righteousness, and all things shall be added to you,” Matthew 6:33.
Cause it’s within that moment you will feel so alive…………..alive…….
In that moment, He can change your life….
In that moment, He will offer you more than money could ever buy……
In fact, as she states, “greatness is what we—‘cash money clique’ are on the brink of” but Jesus the Christ teaches us that greatness is found in serving, not to be served but serve and give His life a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)
Jesus Christ gave it all with no regard for his own life. He left heaven filled with streets paved with gold, seated at the right hand of the Father……He became poor so that we could be rich spiritually. Getting to know him is the moment you will never regret and whatever state you are in you will be content because with HIM, you realize earthly possessions do not define you and one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he or she possesses!
You wait all your life for this one moment 4 life………make sure it’s a born-again moment for life………..for life
